Hedgehogs are mainly meat eaters but they also eat all other sorts of food. As well as beetles, worms and slugs, they enjoy bananas, nuts and biscuits. We are feeding them on tinned cat food, dry cat buscuits and meal worms. They love it all and eat to their hearts content. Hopefully this will give them the good start they need to build up fat ready for hibernation. Do not put out bread and milk, however. Although the hedgehog will eat it, the swelling of bread in the stomach and the fact that cows milk gives hedgehogs diarrhoea, means that it is not the best thing to give a hungry hedgehog. Many hedgehogs die of malnutrition caused by this wrong diet.
